Born and raised in St. John’s, Vaughan Underhay has been involved in sales, marketing, and community service for over 40 years. After attending Memorial University of Newfoundland, Vaughan realized that people were going be the foundation of his business. Helping them solve problems and offering solutions would be his calling. Following five years as an inside salesperson with a leading local distributor of hospitality and sanitation supplies, paper products, and restaurant equipment, he made the first of two moves that helped him develop personally and professionally and have provided him with a rewarding career and bountiful life. That year was 1983. He left that inside sales position to take an outside sales role with a leading national distributor for paper, packaging, industrial, and sanitation products. That was also the year he married Olga Hitchen!! Since then, he has gone on to attain many national and international sales awards, the prestigious Lifetime of Achievement Award with RE/MAX, held management positions with two international companies, developed the marketing plan and assisted in the opening and growth of Price Club (now Costco) St. John’s. He has hired and trained many employees, salespeople, and real estate team members who have gone on to have very rewarding careers. He has coached minor sports teams to provincial titles and maintained a keen interest in giving back to the community through various charitable organizations. He actively participates in the RE/MAX Miracle Home Program for children’s hospitals and the Sold on a Cure program supporting breast cancer research. Both he and Olga were recently recognized by the local children’s hospital, the Janeway, as the largest contributors to the local Miracle Home Program. He supports minor sports and school organizations and other charities in his community through volunteering assisting at food banks, soup kitchens, and where ever there’s need. He and Olga have one son, Andrew, a Mechanical Engineer with Technip Canada, working in oil and gas fields around the world!
Vaughan’s interests include their Himalayan cats Alfie and Gizmo, sports, food and wine, cooking, travel, music, live theatre and movies on the big screen, reading, motorcycling, and fitness. He holds a FIS group exercise instructor designation from CanFit Pro and is a certified Mossa Spin Instructor. He holds professional designations in Buyer representation (ABR from the National Association of REALTORS®) and a Relocation Specialist designation from CERC (Canadian Employee Relocation Council).
