4 St. John’s Pubs to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day In

There’s a strong Irish presence in St. John’s (something you can read more about here) so when it comes to St. Patrick’s Day, there’s no shortage of places to celebrate. If you’re planning a night on the town, here are some of the best places to enjoy the craic. The best part is that they are all conveniently located on George Street (which is believed to have the most bars per sq. foot in North America!), a short walk apart. So, in order, head along to:

Bridie Molloy’s (5 George Street)

Bridie Molloy’s features both Irish and local Newfoundland music, as well as (naturally) a great pint of Guinness.

O’Reilly’s (13 George Street)

O’Reilly’s is about as Irish as it gets, and they go all out for St. Paddy’s Day. The pub will have live music throughout the day and night, culminating with a Ceiligh from 1:30-3am! The celebrations continue the following day with a family event from 10am-12:30pm (if you can drag yourself out of bed).

Greensleeves (14 George Street)

Greensleeves features live music every night, so St. Patrick’s day is no exception. For St. Patrick’s Day, the lineup is headlined by Chris Ryan & Anthony McDonald. Greensleeves is another bar continuing the celebration for an extra day on April 18th.

Christian’s Bar (23 George Street)

Christian’s is George Street’s oldest bar, known for its tradition of getting folks to do a shot of local Screech rum before kissing a cod.
