There’s always a large crowd for the Ship’s weekly folk night. Taking place every Wednesday, this event has been running since 1974. The evening begins with a featured performer, followed by an open mic session. There are prizes to be won, which often include concert tickets and gift certificates. After the open mic section, the featured performer returns to the stage for a further 30-minute set.
It’s just $5 to get in and this is a great way to see some fantastic local musicians while having fun. Although billed as a folk night and presented by the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society, musical styles range right across the spectrum. The Ship Pub is at 265 Duckworth Street, St. John’s.
