Pippy Park Maple Syrup Festival

Learn how to make your own maple syrup at this event from the Friends of Pippy Park. “Maple Syruping” is a popular hobby in Newfoundland, and the Pippy Park Maple Syrup Festival delves into maple tapping.

Taking place on Sunday, April 2nd, 2017, there will be syrup-making, entertainment, and refreshments. Visitors can see the trees that have been tapped in the park, as well as the on-site evaporator and sugar shack. Most importantly, you can also learn how to tap your own maple trees and make your own syrup. Samples of Pippy Park’s maple syrup will be available for tasting.

Entertainment will come from Terry Reilly, the Teddy Bear Man, and from the Mobile Goats. As you enjoy the music, you can sip a complimentary cup of hot chocolate (bring your own mug!). The whole event is free (as if you needed another reason to head down). The Pippy Park Maple Syrup Festival takes places at North Bank Lodge in the park (off Nagle’s Hill).

In addition to the festival, the Friends of Pippy Park are offering 10 free maple tapping tutorials throughout the year
